D&D Roadshow Stockton

Do you care about theatre and performance?

Do you want to meet other people who care?

Do you want to have your say about what theatre and performance should look like in the future?

Do you want to be part of that future?

Do you want to support theatre and performance in the North East?

Do you want to make something happen?

Over the past two years, here at ARC we have been discovering just how much passion for theatre and performance there is in the North East. And not just passion, but talent too. Since the beginning of our artist development programme in 2010, we have worked with more than 200 artists and performers, all of whom are contributing to a rich and vibrant scene right here in Stockton, in Teesside, in the North East.

Too often this region is overlooked, so this is your opportunity to take part in a unique nationwide conversation, and SHOUT about what we do, because Devoted and Disgruntled is coming to the North East!

D&D began in 2006 when Phelim McDermott of Improbable invited people who were ‘devoted and disgruntled’ to come together around the question ‘What are we going to do about theatre?’ It was an open and collaborative conference, a chance to check in with the theatre community, share news about what was being done well, what could be done better and take action on how to improve things.

Devoted & Disgruntled has subsequently become an inspiring annual three day event, with more than 100 offshoot D&D events, including some here in the North East run in conjunction with The Empty Space. These events have kept the important conversations alive and have led to companies being formed, venues being opened, festivals started, shows created, and many other projects and initiatives.

We are passionate about ensuring that the North East continues to be part of these conversations. As part of the London 2012 Festival D&D is going on the road, visiting 20 different locations round the country, linked by a new interactive D&D website, which will record and connect all the events – and we are delighted that ARC, Stockton Arts Centre, will be hosting one on Wed 11 July!

This is your opportunity to set the agenda, to talk about what is important to you, and to have your say on the future of theatre and performance. Whether you consider yourself a performer, director, writer, producer, technician, designer, administrator, programmer, audience member or have or would like to have any other role associated with theatre and performance – we would like you to come!

The event is free, and we want to know who is coming, so please sign up now. And do help us spread the word...

Devoted & Disgruntled is part of the London 2012 Festival, a spectacular 12-week nationwide celebration from 21 June to 9 September 2012 bringing together leading artists from across the world with the very best from the UK. For more information check www.london2012.com/festival
