Report from my session at the Ed Fringe Satellite D&D: Announcing the session - with the sense of absurdity that I’d have anything to say about these ridiculously long words - gave me the absolute giggles and it took several attempts to get the words out. I was technically meant to be in ‘Fish’ but it all happed in ‘Ant’ alongside Regina and her dolls.

WHAT NEXT FOR JEWISH THEATRE - RESOURCES , SPACE AND FRINGE

I have linked three sessions here , since I had the pleasure of coordinating all three, and because I think they point to broader questions about the Jewish theatre ecosystem in the UK, as raised by the whole day. What the day clearly demonstrated was that UK Jewish theatre is flourishing but there are questions around whether we need a strategic approach to funding and development or simply more networking and sharing of ideas and practice?
Keeping Sane & Safe Session

We discussed occasions where we felt less safe or sane as Jewish theatre makers in our industry, and suggestion regarding creating safer, and mentally healthier spaces within our creative process and in general.

When I was 40, I was naughty, Soon I shall be 50….. I called this session at D&D yesterday for a few reasons. Back in 2009, a few women who I looked up to called a session about harnessing the power of the beyond 50s, and in my early 40s as I was, my heart sank a bit.

Where we've been

Over the past decade, we've held over 100 D&D events all over the country (and beyond!).
Verbatim Theatre Ethics

This session was looking at ethics related to the use of other people's stories/testimonies in making theatre. We also ended up discussing verbatim techniques. There were two people (myself - Amy Golding and Ben) making verbatim shows with care leavers. One around politics and one around mental health and immigration. We discussed the importance of anonymity of the people sharing their stories with us due to safeguarding and potential repercussions amongst peers or with service providers.
