ARTS JAM! -Just to make money? -What does the world need? -Like an Actors/Artists Centre - support -This links to other discussions this morning about an open creative space for artists in Hull to develop skills across multi-arts -

WHERE IS THERE SPACE? Unused buildings? -Working cross arts/collaboratively -Get busy about being INCLUSIVE instead of pissing and moaning about being EXCLUSIVE -“Non-professionals” bring A LOT to the table

-MEETING AND CONNECTING -CRECHE/EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES -Spotlight/Equity creche in Central London -Sessions with/without kids -Performers who are touring to the city could come and contribute/watch -Basic skills - honest, open. E.g. Self-tape, line learning -How do you include people who don't consider themselves artists? -How not to make it intimidating? (Need a good facilitator!)

-A TASTER -Relaxed/informal -Unwriting stories, (I'm too old, not a dancer, not a professional etc)

-WATCHING recorded shows -Not trying to compete/impress -Moving working practice from theatre to pub 1) Supporting other performers 2) Encouraging “non-artists” -Pitmen Painters -2017 Volunteers to ripple it out to the community -They've had a similar event at Fruit for games designers? -Who's going to do it? -Don't wait! -Safety-insurance -MINSTER/KARDOMAH -TRINITY SQUARE -Above a pub -E-mail today's attendees -Something to start!

Isaac Acheampong, 8 October 2017 In response to “where is there space…unused buildings…”. This might be an obvious one; a lot of property owners have empty property which they are paying hefty business rates on. They can get rate rebates if the property is occupied by a charity or non profit status organisation. Ground on Beverley road and Hull International Photography in Princes Quay are examples. Speak to them? Also, convince them that an occupied building is less prone to vandalism than a boarded up one, and overall will save them a lot of money. I have even head stories where property owners have even gifted money to artists to occupy their properties because it's such a win win situation. And, communities benefit too, if they're involved.
