A Play about Fracking Hugh Chapman, 26 January 2014 I'm working on a play about fracking in the UK http://whyfracking.wordpress.com/ & http://hughchapmanblog.wordpress.com/2014/01/17/450/ If you want to find out more about fracking in the UK I recommend the Frack Off webiste - http://frack-off.org.uk/ Images: Tags: Fracking Comments: 4 Bethany Wells, 28 January 2014 I'd be interested in keeping in touch with this thread + research. I had an idea to create a sound installation based on fracking and the protest movement last year, but it didn't get off the ground - partly because I didn't know enough, couldn't get my head around the issue and didn't know where I stood on it . I thought about a rural tour to communities that fall on the shale gas hotspot map? Or a play for activists? There were a few lines from Sarah Kane, Crave, that struck me with relation to the feelings I have around fracking: A You're never as powerful as when you know you're powerless. / M I have a black side I know. I have a side so green you will never know. B Have another drink, another cigarette. I'd be interested to hear more about your scratch play; it'd be great to chat if you need a designer? Bethany @preparedtobe Hugh Chapman, 24 February 2014 Hi Bethany, I'm developing the piece in Cambridge. It's coming along… I love the idea of a rural tour around communities that fall on the shale gas hotspot map. I want it to be for as broad an audience as possible, but yes a play for activists in the sense that if you weren't an activist at the start I'd like you to be one by the time you leave! So I don't know about the practicalities of getting together to talk about this. I'm mainly looking for performers to work with at the moment.
