Bread and circuses: Roaring 20s or a new age of reason?

Invitation from 101 Outdoor Arts

"As our shell-shocked world picks itself up, dusts itself down and starts to put back the pieces of what we thought we knew, we might well ask ourselves what kind of future we face and what is our role in it as makers of art for public space. Might we find ourselves riding the crest of a post-pandemic hedonism or should we be asking timely and urgent questions about how we can use our work to address the issues of environmental crisis and social injustice that our planet faces? How might we reconcile our principles with public pleasure…?

We would love you to join us in person at this D&D in November, to hear your pressing agendas, poignant reflections and ambitions for the future.

For those of you who haven’t been to a D&D before, this is a gathering very different to the top down, front-facing conference or symposium. A gathering where you decide what you want to discuss. Whether you feel yourself at the core of outdoor arts practice or come from site-specific theatre, installation arts, sound art or carnival arts, this is a perfect forum to get new ideas, share issues, and work on what matters the most to you."

This conversation will be facilitated by Improbable, a theatre company who specialise in using a process called Open Space Technology (OST). OST is a simple way for groups of people to think, work and take action together around a shared concern. There is no set agenda and you decide what to discuss. You are free to move between conversations in a single session depending on what interests you.
