One place to start would be to join up existing networks, especially those that don't normally get an opportunity to meet each other, e.g. those from different genres. It would also be useful to connect different age groups of musicians, there is so much to be gained from intergenerational links.
Connecting audiences is important, as they are part of our network in a wider sense and sharing audiences would benefit everyone. Local bands are struggling to find audiences, and the same is often true with classical concerts. There is a huge student population in Oxford, but they don't seem to be represented in audiences. Finding ways to get them involved would be a way of integrating the Oxford student population more meaningfully in the town.
Creating a wider network of artists rather than just meeting other musicians was brought up as a way to move things forward.
