Ydych chi’n teimlo bod gormod o ddweud a dim digon o wneud? Ai dyma’r amser cywir i Gymru gynnal trafodaeth am ddyfodol theatr yn ein gwlad? Yn 2012 am y tro cyntaf erioed, mae gennych gyfle i gymryd rhan mewn sgwrs unigryw drwy’r DU mewn dau ddigwyddiad agored a thrawiadol yng Nghymru. Partneriaeth rhwng IMPROBABLE a NATIONAL THEATRE WALES gyda PONTIO Mae Taith Devoted & Disgruntled yn rhan o Ŵyl 2012, sef diweddglo'r Olympiad Diwylliannol, gyda 19 digwyddiad ym mhob rhan o’r DU rhwng mis Mehefin a mis Hydref. Gwahoddiad gan John McGrath a Lucy Davies, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru Rydym wrth ein boddau i fod yn rhan o Devoted and Disgruntled yng Nghymru. Ni fyddai Theatr yn ddim heb yr angerdd a’r cwestiynnu mae D&D yn ymgorffori yn ei enw – ac mae gan theatr Gymraeg ystod eang o farnau a syniadau ynglyn â beth, sut a ble nesaf i’n celfyddyd, ein proffesiwn, ein hobsesiwn. Mae D&D yn cynnig y cyfle i ni roi ein gobeithion a’n poenau ar waith mewn fforwm gynhyrchiol, cydweithiol – er mwyn dychmygu’r dyfodol, a gwneud iddo weithio. Yn NTW rydym yn orlawn o syniadau a dyheadau ar gyfer theatr yng Nghymru. Ond mae syniadau gwell wastad ar gael. Mae D&D yn gyfle gwych i’r artist profiadol eistedd ochr yn ochr â’r dalent mwyaf newydd, i’r arbrofwr gymysgu â’r clasurwr, yr unigolyn siarad â’r sefydliad, y gynulleidfa gyda’r gwneuthurwr, ac i bob un ohonom ddarganfod posibiliadau newydd. Edrychwn ymlaen at weld cymaint o bobl Cymru sy’n hoffi theatr â phosib yn ddau ddigwyddiad D&D a gynhelir mewn partneriaeth â dau ffrind ffantastig: Pontio a Sherman Cymru. Gwahoddiad gan Elen ap Robert, Cyfarwyddwr Artistig Pontio Mae Pontio yn estyn croeso cynnes i bawb sydd o’r un farn â mi, bod y theatr yn bwysig i ni a’n cymunedau. Gyda datblygiad canolfan newydd y celfyddydau ac arloesi ym Mangor, mae hwn yn amser delfrydol i ganolbwyntio ein trafodaethau ar ddyfodol y theatr yng Nghymru. Mae Pontio mewn cyfnod tyngedfennol, yn cyflwyno gwaith a datblygu gweithgareddau i bawb gymryd rhan ynddynt yn y cyfnod sy’n arwain at agor y ganolfan yn 2014. Bydd cyflwyno a chyd-gyflwyno theatr yn Gymraeg, Saesneg, ac wrth gwrs theatr heb unrhyw iaith o gwbl, yn rhan annatod o weledigaeth artistig Pontio. Credaf fod y llwyfan hwn i drafod yn gyfle gwych i bobl yng ngogledd Cymru ddod at ei gilydd i rannu eu barn, gobeithion, a syniadau. Gall hyn arwain at rywbeth arbennig iawn. Felly dewch i ddweud wrthym beth yw eich barn a sut ydych yn teimlo - mae Pontio yn edrych ymlaen at eich gweld a chlywed eich barn! Elen ap Robert Beth yw Devoted & Disgruntled? Gwahoddiad gan Phelim McDermott, Cyfarwyddwr Artistig, Improbable Yn 2006 estynnais wahoddiad cynnes a chynhaliwyd ”Devoted & Disgruntled: Beth ydym yn mynd i'w wneud am y theatr?” am y tro cyntaf. Roedd hon yn gynhadledd agored a chydweithredol, roedd yn gyfle i gysylltu â chymuned y theatr, rhannu newyddion am yr hyn rydym yn ei wneud yn dda, trafod beth y gallwn ei wneud yn well a gweithredu er mwyn gwella pethau. Ers hynny mae Devoted & Disgruntled wedi datblygu i fod yn ddigwyddiad tri diwrnod blynyddol ysbrydoledig ac ers hynny cynhaliwyd 100 o ddigwyddiadau D&D llai. Roedd rhai yn ddigwyddiadau ategol gyda thema arbennig a gynhaliwyd bob mis, cynhaliwyd rhai yn y DU fel D&D yr Alban a D&D gogledd ddwyrain Lloegr, a bu rhai'n ddigwyddiadau rhyngwladol fel D&D Efrog Newydd a Vancouver. Mae’r cynadleddau hyn wedi cadw’r trafodaethau pwysig yn fyw ac wedi arwain at ffurfio cwmnïau, agor lleoliadau, cychwyn gwyliau, creu sioeau, a nifer o brojectau a mentrau eraill. Ffurfiwyd y sioe deithiol Devoted and Disgruntled mewn ymateb i nifer o geisiadau i gynnal y trafodaethau hyn er mwyn cysylltu gyda phob rhan o’r DU. Felly fel rhan o’r OIympiad Diwylliannol rydym yn mynd ar daith, yn cynnal D&Ds mewn ugain lleoliad gwahanol, ac rydym yn mynd ar-lein, yn lansio gwefan D&D rhyngweithiol newydd, a fydd yn cofnodi ac yn cydgysylltu’r holl ddigwyddiadau D&D. Ym myd theatr, fel ag mewn cymaint o feysydd eraill, teimli’r fel petai’r rhaglen wedi ei gosod, a'r penderfyniadau wedi cael eu gwneud ganddyn "nhw" sef y bobl na allwn eu gweld na'u cyrraedd. Rydym yn aros iddyn “nhw” siarad am y pethau rydym ni’n meddwl sydd eisiau eu trafod ac iddyn “nhw” ddatrys ein problemau. Ond wyddoch chi beth? Dydyn “nhw” ddim yn mynd i wneud hynny, ond fe allwch chi, a D&D yw’r lle i ddechrau. Felly os ydych chi’n meddwl bod yna gwestiynau sydd eisiau eu gofyn, projectau rydych eisiau eu cefnogi, pethau rydych eisiau eu newid, dewch i ymuno yn y drafodaeth gydag Improbable yr haf yma ar sioe deithiol Devoted & Disgruntled 2012. Gall arwain at ad-drefnu byd y theatr. Mae hwn yn gyfle unigryw i’ch llais gael ei glywed ac i ni wrando ar ein gilydd, wyneb yn wyneb ac ar-lein, yn lleol ac yn genedlaethol. A partnership between IMPROBABLE and NATIONAL THEATRE WALES with PONTIO The Devoted & Disgruntled Roadshow is part of the 2012 Festival, the finale of the Cultural Olympiad – 19 events across the UK between June and October. An Invitation from John McGrath and Lucy Davies, National Theatre Wales We’re thrilled to be involved in bringing Devoted and Disgruntled to Wales. Theatre would get nowhere without the passion and questioning that D&D embodies in its name – and Welsh theatre has a proud range of opinions and beliefs about the what, how and where next of our artform, our profession, our obsession. D&D offers us an opportunity to put all of our hopes and gripes to work in a productive, collaborative forum – to imagine the future, and then make it happen. At NTW we are bursting with aspirations and ideas for theatre in Wales. But there are always better ideas to be found. D&D is a great opportunity for the experienced artist to sit alongside the newest talent, the experimentalist to mingle with the classicist, the individual to rub up with the organisation, audience with maker, and all of us to discover new possibilities. We look forward to seeing as many Welsh theatre lovers as possible at these two Welsh D&D events held in partnership with two fantastic friends: Pontio and Sherman Cymru. An invitation from Elen ap Robert, Artistic Director, Pontio Pontio extends a warm welcome to everyone who feels, as I do, that theatre is important to us and our communities. With the development of a brand new arts and innovation centre in Bangor, what better time to focus our discussions on the future of theatre in Wales? Pontio is in a crucial period - presenting work and developing participatory activity in the lead up to the opening of the centre in 2014. Presenting and co-presenting theatre in Welsh, English – and of course theatre without any language at all, is and will be an integral part of Pontio’s artistic vision. I consider this discussion platform a fantastic opportunity for people in north Wales to come together and share views, hopes and ideas. This may just lead to something very special. So come and tell us what you think and how you feel - Pontio looks forward to seeing you and hearing your thoughts! Elen ap Robert What is Devoted & Disgruntled? An invitation from Phelim McDermott, Artistic Director, Improbable In 2006 I wrote a heartfelt invitation and the first ”Devoted & Disgruntled: What are we going to do about theatre?” took place. This was an open and collaborative conference, a chance to check in with the theatre community, share the news about what we were doing well, talk about what we could be doing better and take action on how to improve things. Devoted & Disgruntled has subsequently become an inspiring annual three day event and since then there have been over 100 offshoot D&D events. Some have been monthly themed satellites, some in the UK like D&D Scotland and D&D North East, and some have been international events like D&D New York and Vancouver. These conferences have kept the important conversations alive and have lead to companies being formed, venues being opened, festivals started, shows created, and many other projects and initiatives. The Devoted and Disgruntled Roadshow has come about in response to numerous requests for these conversations to engage with all parts of the UK. So as part of the Cultural Olympiad we are going on the road, holding D&Ds in twenty different locations, and we are going online, launching a new interactive D&D website, which will record and connect all the D&D events. In theatre, as in so many things, it can feel like the agenda is set, and the decisions are made by a faceless, unreachable "them". We wait for "them" to talk about what we think needs talking about and for "them" to solve our problems. Guess what? "They" aren't going to do it. But you can, and D&D is the place to start - so if there are questions that you think should be asked, projects you want support on, things you want changed, join Improbable this summer on the Devoted & Disgruntled 2012 Roadshow in a conversation that could reshape the theatre landscape. This is a unique chance for your voice to be heard and for us to listen to each other, face to face and online, locally and nationally.
