This session - prompted by work on a specific play that includes two characters that use BSL - focused on (a) plays that have particularly effectively integrated British Sign Language (BSL), (b) potential opportunities and contacts for further research and development on the topic of effectively integrating BSL (and the funding of same), (c) accessibility and inclusion in theatre more generally and (d) ways of engaging with the BSL-using and BSL-interpreter community.

Among other things, there was discussion of the importance of including contributions from BSL users as early as possible in the process, and of integrating BSL in a meaningful way.

Next steps are to follow up on contacts and opportunities discussed in the session.
