What are we going to do about the Globe / Emma Rice?

D&D 24/7 DETAIL

I'm a PhD student at the University of Kent, and I've been talking to Duska Radosavljevic who recommended that I post.

I'm guessing you've seen the response to the Globe's sacking of Emma Rice. Action Hero sent out a tweet that got me thinking: “A historically authentic Globe experience would be for diverse audiences to be gathered to see new work by contemporary theatre makers”. (https://twitter.com/ActionHeroLive/status/790882728958894080)

I've seen there's a busking spot a stone's throw from the Globe opposite the Tate. Is there any way we could organise contemporary performance makers to present lo-fi work there for a day in solidarity with Emma? Looked up that work can be presented at this busking spot from 9.30am - 7.30pm - artists just have to queue. Could call it something like ‘Globe-All’? Happy for these contributions to be performance / provocation / spoken word.

I'm thinking that setting up an open call in collaboration with D & D would be excellent. I'm on Twitter @BenMonk, and have contacted a few people on there. I'm only a PhD student so have little organisational expertise / contacts. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Looking forward to any responses to this issue in general, and all best,

Ben
